이원우는 음악과 테크놀로지를 통해 인간의 가능성을 확장한다. 뇌전도 데이터(EEG)의 음악화에서 시작된 인간에 대한 관심은 곧 인간의 청각 영역에 대한 관심으로 이어졌으며, 현재는 인공와우를 사용하는 청각장애인의 제한된 소리 인지를 연구하며 음악의 본질은 무엇인지 탐구하고 있다. 인공와우 사용자들의 제한된 음악 인지를 확장하려는 시도로 'WOW-LOG' 프로젝트를 진행중이며, 개인의 소리 인지 특성을 반영한 전자악기, 청감개발용음악을 차례로 발표하고 있다.

Wonwoo Lee explores possibilities through music and technology, with a focus on humanity. This inquiry began with the application of musical characteristics to EEG data, which soon led to an interest in the human auditory system. The present primary focus is the study of the limited sound perception of the hearing impaired, who utilize cochlear implants to explore the nature of music. The 'WOW-LOG' project is making progress in an attempt to expand the limited musical perception of cochlear implant users, employing electronic instruments to mirror the perception of individual sound characteristics, creating music for the purpose of auditory development  in the process.

황지용(WHXX)는 서울을 기반으로 활동하는 전자 음악가이자 미디어 아티스트다. 자연, 일상, 현상, 이야기를 관찰하여 그것을 이루는 요소들을 분석, 해체해 얻은 데이터를 바탕으로 각종 형태의 예술에 실험적으로 표현한다. 주로 사운드 디자인, 프로듀싱, 오디오 비주얼, 미디어 아트의 작업을 주로 하고 있으며 실험적이면서도 편안한 작품을 지향한다.

WHXX is an electronic musician and media artist. Through careful observation of nature, everyday life, phenomena, and human stories, the constitution of these elements are analyzed and deconstructed. Based on this data, experimental expressions employing various art forms emerge. Hwang mainly works with sound design, media art, and audio visual mediums, with the aim being both experimental and relatable. Jiyong Hwang is based in Seoul.

THSS은 최태현과 민성식으로 구성된 즉흥 전자 음악 듀오로, 노이즈, 엠비언트, 댄스 음악에 영향을 받았다. 최태현은 2010년 퍼포먼스와 음반 제작의 경량성과 단순성, 과감성을 추구하며 활동을 시작했다. 2인조 밴드 쾅프로그램(2011~)에서 작곡, 기타, 보컬을 담당하고 있으며, 이 유닛을 통해 팝적인 사운드 내에서 즉흥성의 확장을 시도해 왔다. 솔로 프로젝트(2013~)는 음향 장치들의 재귀적 시스템, 사물의 진동, 전자기기의 전파, 인터넷의 무작위성에 기댄 사운드 채집과 샘플링 등을 활용한 즉흥연주와 작곡을 들려준다. 민성식은 뮤지션, 타투이스트로 활동하고 있으며 THSS와 더불어 솔로 프로젝트 minsungsig 등을 진행하고 있다. 매체의 고유 특성을 배제하는 다양한 작업을 이어나간다.

Influenced by noise, ambient, and house music, THSS is an improvisational electronic music duo composed of Choi Taehyun and Min Sungsik. In 2010, Taehyun Choi embarked upon a performance and recording production endeavour in the pursuit of simplicity, boldness, and the ethereal. Having assumed the roles of composing, guitar, and vocals in the two-member band Kwang Program (2011~), Taehyun and Sungsik attempt to explore improvisation within their signature pop sound through their collaboration. The solo project (2013~) employs a recursive system of acoustic devices, object vibration, electronic devices, and random internet items in conjunction with sampling and sound collection through improvisational performances. Min Sungsik works as a musician and tattoo artist, and is currently focused on his own solo project ‘Minsungsig’ in addition to THSS, choosing to pursue ideas and possibilities outside the obvious characteristics inherent to and of his chosen mediums.

Polarfront는 프로듀서이자 라이브 퍼포머, DJ로 활동하는 이동화의 전자음악 프로젝트다. 2015 셀프 타이틀인 발매를 시작으로 꾸준한 앨범 발매와 국내외 라이브 퍼포먼스와 디제잉을 펼쳐왔다. 다른 성질의 물질이나 형태가 만나는 지점과 경계에서 발생하는 복잡하고 변화가 많은 현상들을 소재로 삼아 다양한 형식태 음악과 시각 작품으로 만든다. Polarfront(극전선)는 이런 특성을 반영한 네이밍으로, 한류와 난류가 접한 경계선으로서 복잡하고 변화가 심한 날씨가 나타나며 성격이 다른 해수가 만나 많은 생물이 서식하는 지점을 의미한다.

Polarfront is an electronic music project created by Lee Dong-hwa:  Producer, live performer, and DJ. Beginning with his eponymous 2015 release, Lee has consistently released albums and performed live for domestic and international audiences in addition to his work as a DJ. Complex and changeable phenomena occurring at the point and boundary where matters and forms of different properties meet, comprise subjects on which music and visual works are based, presented in contrasting modes. Polarfront is a sobriquet that reflects these characteristics. It is the demarcation between the Korean and the turbulent currents, where complex and highly variable weather patterns appear, and the ever changing sea water meets the habitat of multiple lifeforms.

비트복스는 사운드 아티스트 도이, 3D 배경 아티스트 오새얼, 미디어 아티스트 조현이 비트코인 프로젝트를 위해 결성한 팀이다. 기술과 인간의 상호작용, 게임 인터랙션에 대한 흥미를 공통 관심사로 가졌으며, 3D 공간에서 추상을 실험하거나 언택트 시대의 타인 접촉, 게임 공간을 사운드 오브젝트의 세계로 디자인하는 등의 작업을 하고 있다.

Bitbox is a collective that was formed by sound artist Doi, 3D background artist Osaeul, and media artist Johyun for the Bitcoin project. They have a common interest in technology, human interaction, and game interaction,whilst experimenting with abstraction in 3D spaces, connecting in the virtual era, and designing game spaces in a world of sound objects.

두도웨이브는 시각 작가 두루필과 사운드 작가 도이가 만나 결성한 미디어 아트 팀이다. 감상자와 작품 사이의 인터랙션에 매료되어 아트 게임 작품을 주로 제작하며, 시각, 음악 예술만으로 표현하기 어려운 다양한 주제들을 게임의 형식으로 풀어내고 있다.

Dudo Wave is a media art team formed by visual artist Durupil and sound artist Doi. Intrigued by the interaction between viewers and produced work, they mainly create art game content while analyzing different themes that are difficult to express utilizing only visual and musical art, in the form of games.

1998년 데뷔 앨범 <테크노전자음악 잡동사니>부터 오랜 여정 철학의 방점이 담긴 7집 <물체주머니>에 이르기까지 국내 일렉트로니카 신에서 22년째 활동하고 있다. 음색과 멜로디의 일치를 가장 중요하게 여기며 복잡한 실험을 통해 얻은 사운드가 청중에게는 단순하게 들리게 하는 것을 최종 임무로 여긴다. 가장 신뢰하는 도구는 엠피시(MPC)이다. Max와 개방형 모듈러패칭 신스처럼 경우의 수가 무한한 툴을 신뢰하지 않으며 유한한 한계가 있는 레거시 머신에서 뮤지션의 무한한 잠재력과 실질적 걸작을 더 많이 목격해왔다. TR드럼머신의 16스텝 시퀀서와 Roger Linn이 발명한 퀀타이징 기술을 가장 존경하며 창작의 동기를 때로는 악기가 아닌 페퍼로니 피자와 하겐다즈로부터 얻는다. 현재 <비디오 홈 산업표준 Video Home Standard>이라는 프로젝트로 댄스뮤직 음반을 준비 중이기도 하다. 

Mojave has been active in the domestic electronica scene for 22 years, beginning with his 1998 debut album <Techno Electronic Music Miscellaneous> up to his seventh album <Object Bag>, emphasizing the testament of a long journey. The marriage between tone and melody is most important, with the final aim existing to create sound obtained through complex experiments, sound seemingly uncomplicated to the audience. The most trusted tool in this pursuit is MPC. More unlimited potential and composition of practical masterpieces have been witnessed utilizing legacy machines with finite limitations, such as Max and open modular patching synths, than of those tools with an infinite number of possibilities. The 16-step sequencer of the TR drum machine and the quantizing technique pioneered by Roger Linn are the most respected, but sometimes creative inspiration comes not from musical instruments, but from pepperoni pizza and Haagen Daz ice cream. Currently, Mojave is preparing a dance music album through a project he has anointed <Video Home Standard>.

장진승은 사회적 편견과 차별로 인한 오해를 극복할 상호 이해의 가능성을 모색한다. 편견과 차별, 오해를 인간의 잠재의식에 내재한 왜곡된 인식 혹은 인지의 문제라고 여기며, 그것을 기술과 예술의 사이 맥락에서 해소 또는 해결하고자 한다. 이를 위해 미디어적인 상호작용 실험과 사운드 그리고 아카이브를 수반하는 ‘기계처럼 (객관적으로) 생각하기’의 방식을 통해 사고하거나 감각하는 차원으로의 진입을 다방면으로 시도한다.

Jang Jin-seung explores the possibility of overcoming misunderstanding rooted in social prejudice and discrimination through mutual understanding. It is submitted that prejudice, discrimination, and misconception are the byproducts of the distorted perceptions and cognition native to the human subconscious; we can attempt to resolve or solve this quandary through the relationship that exists between technology and art. To this end, an attempt is made to enter into an alternative dimension of thought and sensation through objectively thinking like a machine that utilizes experimental interactive media, sound, and archival content.

‘김태윤과 김윤기’는 2017년 결성된 듀오로 김윤기가 만들어 내는 소리와 김태윤이 수집한 소리를 신디사이저와 샘플러 등을 이용해 즉흥 공연으로 펼친다. 여러 소리들은 규칙 없이 대화하는 형태로 연주되며 그 대화는 동요를 강요하지 않고 주위소리와 어우러져 공연 때마다 다른 소리들이 가감된다. 2017년 Mixture 공연을 시작으로 닻올림, 파주 자유음약잔치, 다소유, 생기스튜디오, 신도시 등에서 다양한 사운드를 선보였다.

In 2017 'Kim Tae-yoon and Kim Yoon-ki' formed a duo. With sound being produced by Kim Yoon-ki and curated by Kim Tae-yoon, they conducted improvised performances utilizing synthesizers and samplers. An array of sounds are exhibited in the form of dialogue void of rules, whereby the exchange is harmonized with the surrounding sounds uncompelled by provocation, with alternate sounds being added and subtracted during each performance. Beginning with the Mixture performance in 2017, sound performances were showcased at Anchor Rim, Paju Free Music Festival, Soso Yoo, Animation Studio, and New Town.

공재이×임민재는 음악가 공재이와 일러스트레이터 임민재로 구성된 미디어 아트 팀이다. 동시대 사회 현상을 음악, 영상, 알고리즘 아트 등 매체 간 경계없이 조명하는 작업을 지향하고 있다. ‘existential circus’는 동시 대 사회 속의 동시다발적 위기에서 개인이 느끼는 무기력함을 표현하는 라이브 오디오 비주얼 작업으로, 일상에서 느끼는 파편화된 위기와 이상주의적 희망의 순환을 그린다.

Gong Jae-yi × Lim Min-jae is a media art team composed of musician Gong Jae-yi and illustrator Lim Min-jae. They delve to examine and illuminate contemporary social phenomena, whilst removing boundaries between the mediums of music, video, and algorithmic art. 'Existential Circus' is a live audio visual piece that expresses the individual's sense of helplessness during simultaneous societal crises, depicting the fragmented dilemmas and idealistic cycles of hope and despair in everyday life.

보울컷(DJ Bowlcut)은 한국의 일렉트로닉 신에서 오랜 기간 활동을 펼쳐왔다. 레프트필드, 로우파이 하우스, 덥 테크노, 미니멀 하우스를 표방하며 다양하고 긴 경험을 바탕으로 한 확고한 튠을 선보이고 있다. 국제적 아티스트들과 콜라보레이션을 하며 많은 장르의 음악을 다루지만, 뚜렷하고 독창적인 하나의 톤을 가졌다. 현재는 커뮤니티 라디오의 운영자이기도 하다.

DJ Bowlcut has been a longtime fixture of the Korean electronic scene. Advocating left field, low-fi house, dub techno, and minimalist house, DJ Bowlcut presents a solid tune based on an array of in depth experiences. Having collaborated with international artists, he has worked in many genres of music, all the while maintaining a distinct and original tone. Additionally, he is currently involved in operating community radio.

NOK×BUSH는 설치 또는 라이브 퍼포먼스의 형태로 오디오 비주얼 작품을 만드는 작가다. 주로 인간이 느끼는 불안한 감정을 탐구하며, 분위기를 만들어내는 추상적인 텍스처, 앰비언트, 노이즈와 클릭음 등 저하된 프로세스로 표현한다. 반복적인 패턴과 그것을 무너뜨리는 시청각 효과는 관객들의 몰입감을 만들어낼 것이다.

NOK × BUSH is an artist who creates audio visual works in the form of installations and live performances. Exploring feelings of anxiety in the human condition, NOK × BUSH expresses this with degraded processes such as abstract textures, ambient noise, and mechanical sounds such as clicking that create mood. The repetitive patterns and the audiovisual effects that interrupt them, create an immersive experience for the audience.

Constant Value는 서울을 기반으로 한 실험적 예술 콜렉티브이. 전자 음악, 시각 예술, 설치 예술, 뉴미디어 아트, 무대 디자인, 시, 건축을 포함한 다양한 장르의 아티스트들이 모여 현시대의 새로운 예술 원형을 향한 실험을 이어간다. 2015년 시작된 Constant Value는 현재까지 뉴미디어 설치작업 부터 오디오 비주얼 퍼포먼스, 전자 음악 앨범, 미술 전시 그리고 실험적 파티까지 다양한 형태의 탈구축적 작업을 서울을 비롯한 도쿄, 베를린, 파리 등 다양한 문화적 컨텍스트 안에서 이어나가고 있다.

Constant Value is an experimental collective, whereby artists from genres including electronic music, visual art, installation art, new media art, stage design, poetry, and architecture gather for experimentation with contemporary artistic prototypes. Having begun in 2015, Constant Value has pursued various forms of deconstructive art ranging from new media installations and audio visual performance to electronic music albums, art exhibitions and experimental social events, conducted in a variety of geographical and cultural environments including Seoul, Tokyo, Berlin and Paris. Constant Value is based in Seoul.

Quintet은 새로운 형태의 음향의 물리적 특성을 조사하는 알고리듬 오디오비주얼 작품이다. 물리적인 모델로 만들어진 가상의 악기 앙상블은 알고리즘 시스템에 의해 제어된다. 이 시스템은 단순히 음향 소리의 동작을 모방하는 것이 아니라 코딩을 사용하여 종합적인 요소가 반영된 흔하지 않은 형체로 확장된 음향 공간을 생성한다. 비디오는 실시간 알고리듬 프로세스로 드러나는 사운드의 시각적 인터페이스로 구성된다.

LiveCoding audio-video installation Quintet is an algorithmic audiovisual composition investigating new possible forms of sonic physicality. An ensemble of virtual instruments made from physical models are controlled by an algorithmic system for event scheduling. Rather than merely emulating the behavior of acoustic sounds, this system employs coding to produce an expanded sonic space in which synthetic elements acquire an uncommon corporeity. The video consists of a sound visualization inferface whose purpose is to reveal part of the undergoing real-time algorithmic process.

Automaton Variations는 사운드 아티스트이자 실험음악 작곡가인 VVAX와 비주얼 아티스트 Ba.ransu의 오디오비주얼 앨범이다. 미니멀적인 미적 감각과 철저히 미니멀한 접근방식으로 제작된 이 앨범은 코딩의 창의성을 보여주고 컴퓨터 프로그래밍을 예술적 표현으로 끌어 올린다.

Automaton Variations​ is an audiovisual album by the sound artist and experimental composer VVAX and the visual artist Ba.ransu. Minimalist in its aesthetic and rigorous in its approach, the album celebrates the creativity in coding and elevates computer programming as an artistic expression.

일상적인 소음 및 글리치 사운드 신호에서 영감을 받은 아티스트 VVAX는 자신의 주변 세계를 재해석하여 실험적인 작곡과 라이브 녹음을 만들어 낸다. Automaton Variations의 경우 모든 사운드는 Pure Data의 Automatonism 소프트웨어로 생성된다. 앨범의 메인 컨셉은 기본 사인파, 삼각파, 톱니파, 사각파 (드럼 머신 포함)와 같은 기본 파형만 사용하도록 제한하는 것이다. 그는 앨범 제작을 위해 오토마타, 알고리듬 작곡, 모듈러 합성, 실시간 프로세스, 라이브 루핑, 세분화된 합성 및 제너레이티브 아트의 기술을 탐구한다. 미니멀리즘 철학의 충실한 그의 작곡은 필수성과 알고리듬 효율성을 추구하면서 불필요한 장식과 효과를 제거한다.

Inspired by everyday noise and glitch sound signals, the artist VVAX reinterprets the World around him to create experimental music compositions and live recordings. For Automaton Variations, all sounds are generated with the Automatonism software in Pure Data. The main concept of the album and the composition process of the artist is to limit himself to use only basic waveforms: sine wave, triangle wave, sawtooth wave, square wave (plus drum machines).  For the production VVAX explores the technique of the automaton, algorithmic composition, modular synthesis, real-time processing, live looping, granular synthesis and generative art. Faithful to the purity of the minimalism philosophy, the composition is stripped of any superfluous decoration and effect, in its search for essentiality and algorithmic efficiency.

가능한 가장 분석적이고 정확한 방식으로 단순한 사운드 형태의 변조를 시각적으로 인지 할 수 있도록 만드는 것이 Automaton Variations을 이해하기 위한 출발점이다. 소프트웨어인 터치 디자이너로 디자인 된 GUI는 필수적인 파라메트릭 사운드를 실시간으로 표시하는것을 목적으로, 구조적 요소를 드러내며 시간의 함수로서 소리크기에 생성되는 패턴을 통해 파라메트릭 알고리듬 구성의 본질적인 아름다움을 향상시킨다.

Making the modulation of simple sound forms visually perceptible, in the most analytical and precise way possible, is the starting point for understanding Automaton Variations.  More than a subjective or synaesthetic representation, the GUI - designed with the software Touchdesigner - aims to make the essential computational sound parameters visible in real time, revealing the elements of the structure and enhancing the intrinsic beauty of the parametric algorithm composition through generative patterns produced by the sound intensity as a function of time.
